We recently launched Taxing Carers, a sister business to cater for people who require a permanent carer but are living in their own home.
Employing a carer brings with it the same responsibilities to account for PAYE and NI as for nannies or any other employees. The process can be onerous and complicated for people.
For example, under rules called Real Time Information (RTI), every employer has to make an online submission to HMRC each time that the employee is paid. So if your carer gets paid every Friday, you have to submit your pay and tax details to HMRC every Friday. And if you don’t, you may be fined.
Fortunately, Taxing Carers will look after the payroll affairs of the employer of the carer similarly to the way that Taxing Nannies helps employers of nannies.
