It could be easier for fathers to take paternity leave in the future…
In 2019, the government opened a consultation called “Good Work Plan: Proposals to support Families”.
Included within the proposals was a section on reforming existing entitlements on parental leave and pay. This could help parents to balance the gender division in parental leave, and make it easier for fathers to take paternity leave.
The government are now considering the responses to the consultation.
